Marpol accidental oil outflow extension released

May 1st, 2010
We are pleased to announce the release of our new Marpol oil outflow extension according to MEPC.141(54). This new extension calculates the accidental oil outflow parameter for vessels with an aggregrated fuel oil capacity of more than 600 m3. This oil outflow parameter is calculated for both sides of the ship. More details regarding this new extension can be found here.

Tank modeling Print
Aft view of ship with tanksThe tank modeling extension is used to quickly define tanks and internal volumes which can be used in the intact and damage stability calculations. Tanks and other internal compartments are created as 3D objects and modeled entirely with surfaces, just like the hull shape. In order to be able to create even the most complex shapes, tanks may consist of multiple objects called compartments.

The tank editor of DELFTship™ is organized to let you create all your tanks as simple and fast as possible. Precise input of soundingpipes, whether straight or curved, allows for accurate calculations of sounding tables for any desired trim and heeling angle.

Features of the tank modeling extension include:
  • Create any number of tanks.
  • Subtract negative compartments from larger compartments.
  • Tanks are related to the hull geometry. After a modification to the hull all relevant tanks will be automatically rebuild to maintain data integrity.
  • Tanks having the same contents or other properties can be grouped by assigning them to weightgroups for a clearer output.
  • Tanks may be connected to the surrounding water. These non-buoyant tanks are a convenient way of modeling a seachest, moonpool or stabilizer recess. The submerged volumes and areas are subtracted automatically in all hydrostatic computations, including the calculation of sectional area curve, waterplane area, stability etc.
  • Calculation of sounding tables for any given heel and trim
  • Transparent shading of tanks for better visibility.
  • Manual or fully automatic generation of tank arrangements. DELFTship™ features diffenerent tank arrangements for tank calculations, intact stability and damage stability.
  • Overview of all available tanks to a report, including a tank arrangement view.
