DELFTload™ heavy lift extension raises the bar
October 26 2009  Delftship delivered the first two out of three new DELFTload™ heavy lift extensions to Hartman Marine Shipbuilding. It has been installed on their new heavy lift vessel "Eendracht". It also replaces the conventional ordinate based software running on sistership "Deo Volente". The new extension has been developed in close cooperation with both the shipyard and owners of the vessels. |
| Since lifting large and heavy cargo is considered core business for these vessels, extra attention has been paid towards the visualization of the cranes, cargo and the lifting process itself. Each crane may be fully controlled with the mouse, during which the 2D views and 3D model are updated in realtime. |  |
| For exact positioning numericaly adjustment of the slewing and topping angles, running length, outreach and the locations of the top of the jib or the block is possible. Another important feature is the presence of a stabilizer pontoon which is stored on deck when not in use. When additional stability is required during the lifting process the pontoon can be attached to the hull on 10 different heights on either side of the ship. |

| This stabilizer pontoon also functions as ballast tank, thus providing extra counter weight. Current development focuses on importing more complex cargo geometry from external sources, like Google Sketchup for example.
